The co-founders of the festival are the National Union of Composers of Ukraine and the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine. The main venues of the festival are: National Opera of Ukraine, National Philharmonic of Ukraine, National Music Conservatory of Ukraine,National Organ and Chamber Musik Hall of Ukraine (St.Nicholas Roman Catholic Cathedral),Kyiv House of Scientists of the National Academy of Sciencts of Ukraine.
The next, XXX edition will be jubilee and will gather prominent musicians from different countries. The last, XXIX edition of Kyiv Music Fest, in 2018, consisted of 5 symphonic, 7 choir and 10 chamber music concerts, including global and Ukrainian premieres, and representing music of 10 countries: Ukraine, Poland, Israel, Germany, USA, UK, Switzerland, Canada, France, and China. During its history the festival was headed by famous Ukrainian musicians and composers, Ivan Nebesny and Myroslav Skoryk. The first edition of Kyiv Music Fest was in 1990, initiated and directed by the prominent Ukrainian composer, Ivan Karabyts.
